Photoshop Lessons are broken down into individual sections of the Tool bar. We will start off with the Selection Tools as they are some of the most commonly used tools in the entire program. The Drawing tools are kind of carry over tools from Adobe Illustrator. Adobe Illustrator is a Drawing program that works with Vectors as opposed Raster. Vectors are paths that we can outline or generally fill with one color. The most common examples of Vector based images are Logos and Clip art as they are flat and 2d in appearance.
So Drawing tools allow you to work with paths and creating shapes. The text tool is easily located here as Text is nothing more than an outline filled with a blanket color and maybe has an outline.

Drawing Tools
While the Drawing tools in Photoshop are particularly powerful, they do not carry the full weight of the same tools in Illustrator. We will be working with the Pen, Text, Convert point anchor, and Add and Subtract points tool.
A side note for your information, any time you see a light colored triangle in the bottom right corner of a tool, it is a cue for you that there are more tools available. For example there is a Pen, Convert point anchor, Add point, and Subtract point tool. All of these are hidden under the Pen tool. |
