Modeling and Level Design
Modeling is the process of creating a new 3d object. This is an area of expertise that requires a lot of practice and skill to really get good at it. There are a number of different ways to create the 3d object that you need and a handful of different software packages, called Game Content Creators (or GCC's), that can used to create new objects.
These object are called Assets or Geometry. They vary in size and function. Each object usually has a a unique Shape, Texture, Size, some have animation and so much more.
For our simple 3d models we will be using ProBuilder. It is an add-on package that allows us to stay in Unity and create straight forward simple Geometry that can be used as a substitute for fancier art or used as is.
ProBuilder offers a number of advanced features that GCC's Like Maya and 3d Studio Max offer.

Level Design
Level Design is the process of creating the game and figuring out where you as the developer wish to have your players interact with it. This step in game production is critical as it helps define the look and layout of the game while also ensuring that it is fun.
Gray-Boxing
Gray-boxing is the process featured in the picture above. It is the layout and design work that allows game developers to see the game in 3d and beta test it. When Gray-Boxing the process is limited to simple shapes that lack color and any distractions. While Color, Texture, and Special FX adds to the fun of a game, it can be heavily distracting. The entire purpose of Gray-Boxing is to make sure that each level is well thought out and fun to play before final touches are added to it.
